Sephora is exiting the Korean market and will begin phasing out operations starting May 6. The customer service team in Korea will be operating until mid-August for returns and refunds.

On May 6 loyalty members will lose any unused points and their information will be deleted. This is also the last day for customers to place online orders, according to the FAQ page.

Sephora opened in Korea in 2019, operating five stores in the country—two of which shut down in recent years. The retailer currently has ‘over 200’ stores in the Asia Pacific region including China, Thailand, Australia and other countries.

Sales in Korea have been struggling due to the dominance of the local retailer CJ Olive Young, operating over 1,300 stores across the nation.
